Australian Dramedy 'Her Last Laugh' Heads to Busan Market

Hong Kong-based sales company Cappu Films has acquired worldwide rights outside Australia and New Zealand for "Her Last Laugh," the debut feature from writer-director Joy Hopwood. The dramedy features Peter Thurnwald, known from Netflix's "XO, Kitty," and Ana Thu Nguyen, who appears in the upcoming "Mortal Kombat II."

The completed film is being introduced to international buyers at the Asian Contents & Film Market, running alongside the Busan International Film Festival. This marks a key distribution step for the Australian production as it seeks global release opportunities.

Hopwood wrote, directed, and produced the project, which showcases emerging Australian talent alongside actors gaining international recognition. The Busan market launch positions the film for festival play and territorial sales across Asia and beyond.
