The New York Times Op-Docs platform has acquired The Revolution Against Death, a new short documentary directed by two-time Oscar nominee Joshua Oppenheimer. The film examines an annual gathering called the Revolution Against Aging and Death Festival, where attendees explore scientific and philosophical approaches to extending human life.
Op-Docs will co-release the film worldwide in early December alongside streaming service MUBI, giving the short documentary a global platform. The acquisition continues Op-Docs' track record of showcasing ambitious nonfiction shorts from acclaimed filmmakers.
Oppenheimer, known for The Act of Killing and The Look of Silence, turns his lens toward the contemporary pursuit of immortality. The film's festival setting provides a concentrated view of a movement that blends technology, biology, and belief in its bid to conquer mortality.
