Raven Banner Acquires Polish Folk Horror 'Òpi' Before Brooklyn Premiere

Raven Banner Entertainment has secured worldwide distribution rights to "Òpi," the feature directorial debut of Polish filmmaker Marta Giec. The acquisition closes just before the film's international premiere at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival later this month.

The horror feature draws on the ancient beliefs and dark folklore of Poland's Kashubia region. The story centers on eighteen-year-old Trina as she navigates the area's ethnocultural traditions and supernatural threats.

The deal marks a significant step for Giec's first feature and positions the genre specialist to bring the Polish folk horror to global audiences following its festival launch.

This brief draws on reporting from Deadline.
