Rise and Shine World Sales has picked up international rights to Elwira Niewiera's documentary "Women and War." The film centers on four Ukrainian women, all survivors of war crimes, who participate in trauma therapy sessions set against the backdrop of the Ukrainian mountains.
The acquisition comes ahead of the film's world premiere in the Main Competition at the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), which runs from November 12 to 22. The selection places the work among the festival's most prominent non-fiction titles this year.
Rise and Shine will now handle the film's global distribution strategy, bringing the documentary to international buyers and audiences following its festival debut.
