Hong Kong-based sales company Cappu Films has acquired worldwide rights to "Ephemera," the queer romance directed by Shan Jiang that debuted in the U.S. Narrative Competition at this year's Tribeca Festival. The film follows two young women, played by Yvonne Shuyu Zhang and Shu-Yi, as their lives intertwine in a story of intimacy and memory.
Cappu Films is introducing the title to international buyers at the Asian Contents & Film Market, running alongside the Busan International Film Festival. The market screening positions the film for potential festival invitations and territorial distribution deals across Asia, Europe, and North America.
The pickup marks a notable step for Jiang's first feature and for Cappu Films, which continues to build a slate of LGBTQ+ narratives from Asian filmmakers. Festival programmers and distributors seeking contemporary queer cinema with a distinct visual voice will have access to the film through the Busan market.
